Sucking breath to himself as the wind threatened to rip his head off, Shiro hissed at the thin air and ran his palms against each other. The night was flat and thick and in the vague distance from his height up top the mansion's freshly-re-coated roof, he could see colors decorating the deep blue with their music popping a second too late.

"It's so cold," he hissed as the air gaped beside him and he whipped his head to his right the moment a form stepped out. "Did you get 'em?" he asked.

His answer came in the form of bottles, and there was instantly a smile on his face as the portal disappeared.

"What's happening down there?" he asked after his first drink.

"They're either playing twister or limbo," was Jubilee's response as she brought her bottle beside her. "They hadn't decided yet. D'you wanna play?"

Shiro snorted and shook his head. "I have very little body coordination and I always lose in limbo. Besides," he glanced at his wristwatch -- a fancy present from his no other than his best friend, "there's ten minutes left. I can't possibly hurry down for a single game and run back here." He took another drink from his bottle. "I'd be too late for midnight."

"And on that note, isn't there some rule against drinking while performing your mutations?"

Shiro turned to Jubilee seated on the roof beside him. "And what do you call that time you sent us to Kansas?" He beamed when she stared unhappily at him.

The ten minutes passed them longer than he expected, but he was grateful that Jubilee kept him in company for the rest of the time they complained of the weather. But when the last minute of 2011 began ticking, he set his second bottle aside and stood up carefully on the rooftop, stretching his arms a little as he sought for his balance.

"No body coordination, right?" Jubilee said to him, looking up.

"If I die, weep for me," Shiro said as he moved his hands slowly to his shoulders -- and then over head where the stars glimmered down for him. "Three colors, Bee."

"Pink, yellow and purple."

"Pur--" Shiro glared at her. "You know how I hate that color." But it was her turn to be smug and he could only snort at that. He never questioned her choices and he was not about to stop this yearly tradition of asking her for voice.

Thirty seconds left.

"They're such girly colors."

"You've got such a girly hair, Yoshi."

Again, glaring.

Fifteen seconds left.

"You should make that your new year's resolution: stop picking on me."

"Now I can't be too cruel and deprive you of my love, can I?"

Five seconds left.

There was barely enough time. Lodging that thought at the back of his head, Shiro looked up to the skies and a sparkle of gold erupted from his fingers as he began to work the friction that surrounded him. A pink followed after, and a tiny, tiny globule of purple as they swirled together with more and more siblings coming to life.

Three...

Two...

One.

With a flick of his fingers, the sparkles shot up into the air and at the exact moment that a chorus of voices rang from beneath him, a girly flower blossomed in the night air, dressing Shiro and Jubilee in pink, yellow and purple colors from overhead and there was the shriek that came after his fireworks exploded. More and more sparkles shot up from under his sleeves, straight into the air and erupted with an orchestrated form -- of jet streams or rain or tiny petals exploding into bigger flowers.

A minute into 2012, the residents of Xavier's Mansion fled out into the garden to watch his performance.

"Now or never, Bee," Shiro said as he watched them cheer and jump, "Make your resolution."

• New layout! Not that it should matter much, my RP life has been behaving like a 50:50 ECG graph but I have been quite into this song by the Band Perry, If I Die Young since the day I heard it. It was the acoustics that did it, and then the next time I listened to it, I found the lyrics charming and then I realized that it was totally Aerith's song! The whole of it, it's her and her death. (At this time, I was in my character theme song mood so. I got a couple more songs in mind like "Moves Like Jagger" being James Potter's song but hush hush.) So then I began obsessing over it and then I wanted to make a graphic out of it and here it is!


• In line with my yearning to graphic-ize the song, I wanted to look for an Aerith-able PB for it and spent the entire night looking for it. I ended up with choosing Alexis Bledel who's Aerith-able for a few angles and shoots, enough to fill an LJ plus account's userpics. I was hoping I wouldn't end up using her since she's a very common face (and she's not quite Aerith) but then I saw this shoot and I conceded: the hair, the background, the pink dress and brown boots -- everything was perfect for Aerith. And anyway, I never really meant to show the entire face so I went with it. Now I want to make some "Aerith" icons using this shoot. >.>;;


• In other news, Pottermore! I finally have it! I don't know what use it will be but my very lucky username is MarauderAuror85 and I am a Puff! A bit of a surprise but I'd always known that I'd either be a Gryff or a Puff, it was just one or the other. I guess I'm "nicer" than I am brave. XD Quite glad I didn't end up a Slyth, though. Absolutely hate that House. >.> No offense to Slyths but if there's anyone to blame, it's JKR and her character skills.


• Been reading Game of Thrones this late, too. I do my best to always end my reading sessions (I read on the way to work, during my lunch break, on the way home and before I sleep) with every chapter finish since GRRM writes such short ones but I don't know, I still haven't finished that one with Jon but I might just do it tomorrow because I do want to sleep now. x_x;;

1. ngl, but I would really, really, really be more interested on seeing a Luna, a Draco (or Lucius), the Weasleys (who isn't Ginny because we all know how much I appreciate Ginny), Hermione or wouldn't you know, Harry Potter or even people like Cho Chang, Cedric Diggory, Mad-Eye or hell, Kingsley Shacklebolt (second favoite Order member, ngl. In my headcannon, he and Remus are kind of like bffs after Sirius died) than people whose names were only mentioned 16 times in the entire book or kids of the next generation because really, what do we know about them beyond their names, sexes, parents and ages? I know that there is a clean-slate appeal for long-time players here, a chance for them to wonder and derive and create but honestly? I really don't care about them. I care about the people I read JKR wrote extensively about in the books. I care about the people who made me love and hate the book and as far as I am concerned, these kids aren't any of those. (But I'll be lying if I say I care about Ginny because really, I don't. If she ended up with Neville, though? I would have. Because really now, JKR screwed that part up. And Lupin and Tonks. But I have a very unpopular opinion with the Lupin and Tonks relationship which needs an entire entry on its own so.)



2. Pet peeve: Guys, just because your character has an accent doesn't mean that they have to write in their accent. No one in their right mind will judge you for writing your character's dialogues or thoughts in say, a Southern accent because come on, that was how they were raised/influenced to talk. But I will judge you for writing their journal posts like a Southerner. Writing for effect? Maybe but just because characters have accent doesn't mean that their spelling was affected by said accent. It just doesn't work that way.
